The work
From Puerto Rico to Central Florida, with the guitar at the center.
ATTO's public music history spans live performance, original projects, production and instrument design. His sound brings together jazz lines, Latin phrasing, rock edge and a focus on melody.
Playing came first. Everything else grew out of it. Years on stage teach you what an audience actually hears, and that shows up later in how a mix is balanced or where a brace goes inside a guitar top.
Producing other artists sharpened the listening. Building instruments made the listening physical — you can't argue with an instrument that doesn't respond. That same perspective carries through the studio and into the SieteQuinto, a seven-string instrument developed from his long relationship with the requinto, and a simple question about what jazz and Latin playing would sound like with a seventh string underneath.
None of it is separate work. The same ear runs through the performance, the record and the instrument.
